Oakwood student takes third prize.An Oakwood student takes third prize in a sustainability awareness poster competition.Rotherham council are keen to raise public awareness of the issues facing our planet and the need for everyone to do their bit. Working inconjuction with the education department a poster competition was launched across Rotherham's schools to find a set of graphics that could be used on promotional leaflets and vehicles in Rotherham over the next two years. The award ceremony took place in the town hall and the prize winners received their prizes from the mayor. Here Thomas can be seen collecting his prize which was a weather station to be used to measure the temparature, wind and rainfall on the Oakwood site for the next year. The design was a clever modification of the famous Lord Kitchener recruitment poster from World War 1. Oakwood Goes InternationalOakwood Achieves International School Award
Oakwood students have staff have been working hard over the last year in lots of International work and this has meant we have been successful in winning the Full International School Award. This is a real honour as there is only one other school in Rotherham with the Award. Students have worked with students from Pakistan, Jamaica and Germany and taken part in many activities over the year, including the popular International Food Evening. We are looking forward to what we can do in the future so please: Get involved!!! |
